Description:
The camera-laser-topography system for the Big Wheel was modeled after similar systems built by Joel Rowland, Glen Leverich, and Christian Braudrick (Richmond Field Station), St. Anthony Falls Laboratory researchers, and Joel Johnson (MIT). An oblique photo of a laser line projected onto a surface is processed to obtain height in the plane of the laser line.
